Brooklyn saw a rainbow.
It touched the ground by the hill.
She wanted to see what was there.
“Dad! Jaden! Come see!” she said.
They ran to the hill.
The rainbow looked close.
Brooklyn pointed. “It’s right there!”
She took one step.
The rainbow moved away!
“Hey!” said Brooklyn. “It ran from me!”
Jaden laughed. “Maybe it’s scared.”
Dad smiled. “Rainbows move when you move.”
Brooklyn asked, “Why?”
Dad said, “Rainbows are light in rain drops.”
“They are made of sun and water.”
Brooklyn frowned. “So no gold?”
Dad shook his head. “No gold.”
“Just colors,” he said.
Jaden said, “Maybe the gold turned to yellow light!”
Brooklyn giggled.
“That’s silly,” she said.
The rainbow shined bright in the sky.
Brooklyn smiled.
“It’s pretty,” she said softly.
Dad said, “That’s the treasure—the rainbow itself.”
Brooklyn jumped in a puddle.
“Then I found it!” she said.
Jaden splashed too.
Colors danced on the water.
They both laughed under the rainbow.
